Lowcountry Zoo Otter Exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens

About This Project

A favorite for many Lowcountry Zoo visitors, the otter exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens is approximately 1,200 square feet in size and features an 8,000 gallon above-ground pool made from clear acrylic panels. Inside the pool, replicas of river banks provide the otters with places to rest above the water and serve as “diving boards” when the otters jump into the pool.

Outside the exhibit, native vegetation serves to integrate the new exhibit with the surrounding lowcountry forest.  A seat wall and observation pavilion provide a comfortable place for visitors to observe the otters.
